Gestuz @ Copenhagen Fashion Week AW26

Gestuz, backstage and runway for Vogue at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

I learned a lot about Danish design at my first visit to Copenhagen, and Copenhagen Fashion Week. I visited Denmark on assignment for Vogue Portugal, shooting runway and backstage. This trip was in January, which is a cold and snowy time in the city -- the majority of everyday citizens are wearing coats, boots, and a simple palette of black, blue, and brown.

These attributes reflected strongly in the presentation by Gestuz. A simple color palette, largely focused on black and brown, but with pops of olive -- a note that carried throughout the entire presentation. Bags featured large olive-inspired charms, and the show itself featured olive martinis and olives frozen in blocks of ice. Bartenders served drinks to models after they walked the runway, until all models were sitting around the center aisle as a performance piece.

Gestuz's presentation reflected an earnest winter Danish woman: leathers and furs, loose silhouettes, and utilitarian elements like suits, denim, and coats.
