Shoes @ CPHFW A/W26

Details captured at Copenhagen Fashion Week A/W26.

One of my favorite details to capture at fashion week is shoes. There's just something about this accessory that stands out -- it's a necessary part of each look, but it's not usually something designed by the brand that is showing. More often, it's a collaboration with another brand or designer, yet it completes the final look.

I've always loved capturing shoes: earlier in my career, when I was shooting mainly live music, (if you'd like to take a look back at my old concert photography!) I loved to capture shoes on pedals. I think it's just such a unique perspective, a cool detail, and a great way to show a real-life moment in a snapshot. This trip to Copenhagen, in January 2026, was my first time shooting Copenhagen Fashion Week as a backstage photographer. I was shooting backstage on assignment for Vogue Portugal, which I've done previously for New York Fashion Week. It was also my first time in Denmark and Copenhagen at all, a huge leap of faith and a trial run for how this smaller, European fashion week works.

I was so pleasantly surprised by Copenhagen's fashion week: it was slower, calmer, and simpler. This gets reflected in the shoe choices by brands for their presentations. Winter season of course affects these choices: we see lots of boots and leather designs, with a palette largely comprised of brown and black. I did get to see a few pops of color shown on shoes worn by models showing the Forza Collective collection, which you know I loved best!
